Vermilyea Farms, "where legends are born... breeding for excellence",  wasVermilyea Farms Olympus founded in 1993 on the principal that quality breeding and highly bred show horses were their top priorities.  Bill Humphries, owner of Vermilyea Farms, is committed to improving the miniature horse industry for everyone and wants to share with others by playing an integral part in breeding horses that are capable of winning at the highest and most elite levels.  In 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000, Vermilyea Farms was a leader for producing show horses that competed at the World Championships.  This success lead to many World Grand Champions, World Champions, and Reserve World Champions.  In 1999 alone, Vermilyea Farms had FIVE World Grand Champions and twelve World Champions or Reserve World Champions!

Lil Hills Neon DreamAs Vermilyea Farms grew throughout the 1990's, it acquired and bred some of the world's best broodmares.  This was obvious with the outstanding foal crop it produced each year.  It was Bill Humphries' focus to buy the best mares and broodmares in the business.  At one time alone in 1999, Vermilyea Farms had 46 mares that had World Championship titles or had produced World Champions.  The pedigrees of their broodmares were a virtual "who's who" of the miniature horse industry.

Also in the 1990's, Vermilyea Farm's stallions were a collection of powerful pedigrees with World Grand Champions and World Champions - an amazingVermilyeas Snippets Red Tape accomplishment in the miniature horse industry.  Genetics are a crucial part of the breeding program and each of the broodmares were matched with the right Vermilyea stallion.  The exceptional pedigrees that were crossed at Vermilyea led to foals that won many World Championships.  Some of the legendary stallions that resided at Vermilyea Farms included Rhotens Little Dandy, Bond AToy4U C, Roys Toy Snippets Red Corvette, Little Kings Alfalfa Please, NFC Rowdys Stylish Conclusion, Vermilyeas Snippets Red Tape, Vermilyea Farms Olympus, and Vermilyea Farms Portrait Of Blue.

In the Summer of 2000, Bill Humphries decided to sell the complete herd of Martins Boozers Daring DifferenceVermilyea Farms horses to pursue other personal interests and attend to his multiple business ventures.  In four short months, over 250 head of some of the finest miniature horses in the World were sold...not by public auction, but by private individual sales.  Bill Humphries' love of the miniature horse was still as strong as ever and therefore he kept five horses and sent them to a long-time personal friend in the miniature horse industry, Kay Pate of Modern Miniatures.  Vermilyeas Snippets Red Tape, a World Champion, Reserve World Grand Champion, and future World Champion Sire - along with  four mares, were the only horses Mr. Humphries decided to keep for himself to enjoy.

In 2004 and 2005, having missed the excitement of breeding top qualityRhotens Little Dandy show horses, Mr. Humphries decided to purchase more select broodmares just as he did in the 1990's.  It became his mission to find broodmares that have produced World Champions and contain the pedigrees of the latest World Champions.  These broodmares would again contain the "who's who" of the industry.  Mr. Humphries didn't want the high numbers, but to have the highest quality possible that, along with some of the best stallions, would produce a horse destined to show and win!

Vermilyea Farms has again made its presence known, producing several Vermilyea Farms Fine N Dandyhorses that have gone on to the elite level in the show ring.  Today, most of the Vermilyea horses are located at Modern Miniatures in Texas and managed by Kay Pate and her daughter, Bobbi Kay.  Vermilyea Farms has also began its quest in the American Shetlands..which adds a new and exciting element to our farm and what we are breeding for.  Having acquired some of the nation's top American Shetland stock...the goal is the same...to produce the very best!  In just a short amount of time, we have already shown ponies to 3 Congress Grand Championships and numerous Congress Championships!  The Vermilyea Farms of today has the same vision as before, to acquire fabulous broodmares and cross them with outstanding stallions...with the goal being to produce tomorrows champions.  Watch for Vermilyea's truly great show horses with the industry's top trainers...and see for yourself that Vermilyea Farms is...
